NFL Championship Saints – Sports Betting
It’s only been 43 years in the making but the New Orleans are the champions of the NFC. That’s quite a thing for a franchise known more for its lack of success rather its achievements in the league and without doubt the feel-good story of the sports betting post season.
But then again this season has been a year of firsts for the N’aleans Saints. Aside from winning their first NFC championship the team also hosted the conference’s biggest game for the first time in franchise history. Likewise the 2009-10 season was the first time in the NFL championship history that the team had entered the post season as the number one seed in the conference.
The 12th man more than did its job in the Saints big win, one of the most exiting NFC championship games in recent memory. The storyline was tremendous as the feel-good Saints hosted the Vikings and Brett-Favre as he tried to add to his already enormous legend. But in the end the noise in the Super Dome, the red hot Saints offense and the several key turnovers were the difference between a Vikings trip to Miami and the first Super Bowl berth in Saints history.
Drew Brees was hardly perfect, but against a defense that had been pulverizing QBs in the playoffs he was just about as good as any human could be completing 17-31 for 197 yards and three TDs. His opponent Favre got a taste of the same medicine as the Saints defense stepped up and put the 40-year old on the turf time and time again. But it was the patient secondary that made the play of the game late in the fourth quarter, picking off Favre for a second time and forcing overtime. Brees performed perfectly in extra time and the rest is history.
